An Outlook user sometimes comes across situations when he needs to add an old *.pst to his new profile, lets say, when the original profile gets damaged. The option to add a PST and set it as default delivery location is available in 'E-mail Accounts' setup of MS Outlook. However, for the old PST to work correctly in new profile, it needs to be intact and free from errors. At times, the corruption can be to an extent that it won't allow you to even attach the file to the profile. As suggested by the error message, you need to run Inbox Repair Tool(scanpst.exe) to fix this error. The corresponding 'Scanpst.exe' file is located at one of the location on your computer:

<disk drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12
Double-click the file and proceed as prompted to Repair PST File.
