How to Install the software
As soon as your Microsoft Outlook account goes old, the size of PST file grows continuously. Large sized Outlook PST file becomes unstable and you risk losing your critical data. Oversized PST file also waste a lot of hard drive space. To conserve the space on your hard drive, you can delete some unwanted items from the Outlook PST file and then compact the file to make it smaller.
When you deleted any unwanted file or items from personal folders of Microsoft Outlook, it moves them to Deleted Items folder that is in the same PST file. You need to remove the deleted mails and other items from Deleted Items folder to permanently delete them so that the Outlook can compact your file.
The compaction process doesn’t delete all of the free space from file. It leaves either 16 KB (Kilo Byte) or 4% of the total file size (prior to compact) whichever is greater. To be compacted, the PST file must meet the underwritten requirements:
- The PST file must be 16KB or larger in size.
- The file must have at least 16KB of free space since last time when you compact it.
The PST compaction is required to actually remove the data from PST file. If you simply remove the items by simply emptying the Deleted Items folder, the data will not be removed actually. The file size might remain intact. To decrease the file size and improve the performance of Outlook, compaction is required. You can start PST compaction either manually or run it automatically in background.
